Opening night THE TEMPEST

August 15, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm UTC+0

Jocelyn Kasper will be appearing in Nashville Shakespeare Festival’s (NSF) summer production of THE TEMPEST on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Additional TEMPEST shows on Labor Day Monday, Sept 2, and on Friday, Sept 27 (see all dates below).

Jocelyn Kasper as Gonzalo with Alan Lee as King Alonso

She will be portraying GONZALO, the wise counselor to King Alonso of Naples. Marooned on a desert island after a stormy shipwreck, they are searching for Prince Ferdinand whom they fear has succumbed to the waves. On another part of the island, Ferdinand meets and falls in love with Miranda, the 15-year-old daughter of Prospero, magician and former Duke of Milan.

Prospero had been ousted from his dukedom 12 years previous by his own brother, Antonio, and the King. The play opens as Prospero conjures a tempest upon them as they are returning from a voyage to Africa where the king’s daughter was newly married. Inspired by revenge, but choosing forgiveness instead, Prospero summons island spirits to assist him as he embarks on a personal journey toward virtue and redemption.

[The NSF Apprentice Company program presents Shakespeare’s PERICLES on Fridays: Aug 16, 23, 30; Sept 1, 6, 13, and 20. They also assist in THE TEMPEST.]
