Master Classes

What is a Master Class?

A master class is a focused learning opportunity between student and master teacher in the company of supportive peers.

Each student performs and receives coaching to bring their performance skills and musical talents to a higher degree of excellence.

Feel the difference that increased confidence can bring to your music making.

A master class enables an aspiring student to assess their musical abilities and improve their performance skills. The experience can be described as a stepping stone between individual or group instruction and an actual public performance.

The interaction between teacher and student is a process of discovery that helps the student increase their self-awareness and confidence. Those in the audience observe and can apply what they learn to their own study.

Offered only five to eight times a year on Sunday afternoons (see current dates and check calendar), our Vocal Master Classes are at 1:00-3:00 PM, and our Guitar & Piano Master Classes directly follow at 3:30-5:00 PM. We request advance registration.

Come make music with us. Bring friends! Auditors pay half price.

Vocal Master Class

Experience individual vocal instruction from a master teacher accompanied by a professional pianist.

Learn how to apply techniques you've learned in lessons to an actual performance with an observing audience.

Skilled singers with a prepared solo or those who have never had a voice lesson are welcome.

Jocelyn Kasper helps you get ready for recitals, auditions, solos. Bring a favorite song, and have fun in a performance setting.

Here's a great opportunity to be a fly on the wall in another singer's lesson. As one dad put it, "It's like seeing how the sausage is made."

All singers, beginners to advanced, are put at ease. Limit 6-7 participants; additional auditors welcome.

Guitar & Piano Master Class

Here's a chance to prepare for recitals or other performance opportunities with supportive peers. Take your playing to the next level. Learn the basics of performing.

Improve skills and increase confidence in a relaxed group setting with your teachers, Jocelyn and Jonathan Kasper.

Instrumentalists can present songs, pieces or etudes. Students may also perform together when helpful.

When you're playing music by yourself, everything can sound great. When you play in a lesson, suddenly you're aware of your teacher. Performing before an audience can sometimes be a challenge.

By participating in a master class, you can develop the poise needed for a successful performance.

All ages and levels are invited. Limit 6-7 participants; additional auditors welcome.
