Reed and Lily (now 9 and 4) spent a fun-filled week in Nashville this April visiting Aunt Joc and Uncle Jon. Here they are in duds from Tye Dye Mary®.
Ms. Kasper attended A Vocal Arts Celebration, the 50th National Conference of NATS, the National Association of Teaching of Singing, which took place this summer at Opryland. This Music City Jubilee included seminars in opera, classical, music theatre, jazz, blues, gospel, country and pop singing. Mr. Kasper kicked up his heels at the gala ball with dancing partner, special guest star Marni Nixon, whose wonderful singing voice we hear when watching lip-synchers Deborah Kerr in The King and I, Natalie Wood in West Side Story and Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady. Ms. Nixon also sang Grandmother Fa in Disney’s Mulan. She’s terrific! |
In June the Kaspers provided another inspiring week of music-making with their fun Summertime Songwriting Camp for Kids.
Students learned firsthand that everyone is creative, that co-writers are co-operative, and that finding a rhyme can save some time. The young songwriters said they wished it would last all summer long!

I'm Fairy Thirteeny.
I'm lean and green and spleeny.
The kingie and queenie "
They think that I'm a meanie!

In Thumbelina, Lady Paolo the Swallow rescues little Tiny and helps her get to Fairyland. Jocelyn engaged the audience in her original sing-along, "Echo My Cuckoo."
Echo my cuckoo when you hear me sing.
Echoing my cuckooing is such an easy thing!
Echoing my cuckooing is coo-coo,
But such happiness it brings!
Cuckoo! Cuckoo!
